Job Description

Our client; an established firm of chartered accountants based in Birmingham are looking for a Payroll Specialist. They are a longstanding and reputable company working within the financial sector and specialise in Business Tax Accounting. This is a great chance for an individual to utilise their skills in a growing firm where your experience and expertise will be valued.

Job Description

In your new Payroll and Accounts position, you will be joining a friendly, fast paced finance function. Your core responsibility will be the payroll, ensuring that the companies employees are processed accurately and on time. The UK payroll will be processed by yourself, from start to finish, and you will also liaise with 3rd party payroll providers ensuring they have the information required to submit the small international payrolls. In addition to the payroll, you will assist the Financial Controller with any other ad-hoc duties, and be responsible for producing relevant payroll related reports such as Gender Pay Gap reports, head count reports etc.

Your day to to-day duties will include but are not limited to;

  • Dealing with clients queries
  • Supervising junior staff by reviewing bookkeeping and accounts working papers prepared by them.
  • Reporting progress to the partner by preparing management accounts
  • Identifying problems and areas for concern for client's accountancy based issues

Be proficient in the following programmes:

  • IRIS
  • XERO
  • Quickbooks
  • Sage
  • Sage Payroll
  • Relevant Microsoft Office programmes
  • Knowledge is preferable but training will be provided if required.

Qualifications & Experience

One of the following accreditations is preferable;

  • ACCA
  • ICAEW
  • AAT
  • Minimum 3 -4 years experience in public practice (where you have dealt with clients)
