The Role:We are currently looking to recruit Healthcare Assistants to join our existing team. You will be responsible for meeting and greeting our participants and assisting them through the visit as well as performing a range of health related measures, venepuncture and some basic laboratory work. The role will also entail some administration work and general housekeeping. We are Keen to develop and improve our staff knowledge and actively encourage CPD for all of our Imaging study staff here.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Health Care Assistant - You: Previous experience in healthcare or laboratory would be beneficial but not essential; previous phlebotomy experience would be an advantage. Working 4 days per 7 day week (pro-rata share of weekends; no on-call work) within a friendly, supportive environment, and with 6.8 weeks of annual leave per year (including Christmas & Easter shutdowns) you can contribute to a world leading study whilst also enjoying a fantastic work-life balance. Essential - Must be an excellent communicator, both spoken and written - Experience of working with the public, with a polite and approachable manner - Excellent interpersonal skills and be able to clearly explain procedures and instructions to participants - Ability to undertake repetitive tasks to a high quality - Must be able to demonstrate manual dexterity in relation to venepuncture - The ability to escalate issues to the relevant person effectively including working with staff at the coordinating centre - Must exhibit attention to detail, with a specific focus on quality - Disciplined in relation to following protocols and procedures - Must have experience in IT (Microsoft Office) - Must be able to maintain confidentiality when working with information and associated patient information - Willingness to work flexibly (with reasonable notice) - Willingness to perform basic laboratory tasks Desirable - Experience of working in a clinical/medical or laboratory environment - Venepuncture skills including a clear understanding of venepuncture safety and infection control. - Familiarity with ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 15189, ISO27001). - Biological qualifications (A-level or relevant degree) - Experience of basic laboratory equipment maintenance - Experience of laboratory sample tracking - Experience of shipping biological samples - Full clean UK driving licence
