Job Description

Project Manager (Design) to lead on Technical, Design Management and Coordination of Infrastructure Delivery.

You will be a skilled coordinator with a determination and persistence in assembling Design Information across a series of consultancies and, in doing so, bring best value and solutions to the scheme. Being responsible for a number of sites, excellent stakeholder liaison skills and an ability to multi-task is essential. You will understand the complexities of buildability and strive for an appropriate level of detail at all phases of the design and implementation process. Likely a Design Manager within a Contracting or House Building organisation, you will be responsible for design management & coordination, robust technical input, legal & contractual negotiations (S104, S98, S38 and S278), and commercial control. You will be adept at appointing and managing consultants such that they deliver on their scope of works within the defined operational and commercial objectives.

Project Director or Associate Project Director to manage construction contracts from inception to handover and/or adoption.

You will ideally be a Chartered Civil Engineer employed in the construction industry with a considerable portfolio of successful highway construction, earthworks, remediation, sewerage and highway drainage experience. Importantly, you will have the ability to manage commercial aspects of contracts, administering the necessary contractual mechanisms as appropriate. You will be responsible for infrastructure procurement, commercial control and contractor liaison. As a valued member of the L&Q Estates delivery team you will ensure best value rates and terms, negotiate contracts, agree variations and resolve contractual matters.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Technical - Design Managers or similarly skilled Project Managers working with a Civil Engineering Contractor, a House Building organisation or relevant Technical Design Department will be ideally suited to the Project Manager (Design) role. Design Engineers, with the right aptitude, may also apply Construction - a Chartered Civil Engineer currently working with a Civil Engineering Contractor or Housing Building organisation. Commercial Managers (Quantity Surveyors) with significant Civil Engineering and construction experience will be considered.
