Job Description
Validation and release of non-interpreted results to customers
- You will ensure the accurate and timely validation and release of non-interpreted results requiring manual authorization to UK customers.
- You will digitize glasswork produced by the lab for Histology and Cytology, to be done in a timely manner.
- You will regularly check the UK LIMS (LYNXX) for the presence of partially resulted reports and/or complete reports waiting to be manually released to customers.
- You will organize the release of validated results by phone to customers
- You will produce immunohistochemistry letters and reports for the referral labs.
- You will monitor the workflows and amend pathology duties accordingly.
Administrative duties
- You will prepare departmental Rotas and Schedules for Pathology Operations, clinical Pathology, and Anatomic pathology
- You will ensure compliance to ISO 17025:2005 by adhering to all Quality Management System Procedures, SOPs and Policies, and participate in internal audits as required
- You will coordinate the pathology audits and support the head of the department in the preparation of the departmental quality documentation relevant to UKAS accreditation
Histology/Cytology duties
- You will be responsible for packing up and shipping cytology cases to offsite pathologists as well as all aspects of Philips digital duties involving cleaning of slides, loading of scanners, and pathology digital supports
- You will also oversee the maintenance of the scanners and IMS on a daily basis
- You will scan cases for Hematology, Pharma, and all European countries in line with UK cases making sure to priorities each of their requirements
Schedule:
- This is a full time (37.5 hr/wk)
- The shifts are Monday - Friday 14.00 – 22.30
- Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
You will have experience of working in a laboratory, preferably 2 years plus. Ideally, you will be educated with BSc or equivalent in Biomedical Science or science-related subject, and a Veterinary Nurse training/qualification is preferred. You will have the ability to understand and learn scientific concepts. You will have clear and concise written and oral communication skills as well as good IT knowledge. You are a problem solver and have the ability to use your own initiative within the boundaries of your role. You concentrate on the details and can work reliably and precisely. You have a great sense of team spirit and responsibility.
