Job Description

The Senior Accountant reports directly to a Department Manager and will assist the Directors and Associates in the provision of accountancy, audit, tax and other services to clients including assisting with the management of workflow and supervision, management, and training of team members as required.

Taking responsibility for all allocated clients and managing of own workload and deadlines, some of your duties will include:

  • Working on special projects, with guidance, on an ad hoc basis as and when required to include cash flow projections, funding assignments, business acquisitions and disposals
  • Preparing accounts and tax returns
  • Preparing complex VAT returns/ reviewing VAT returns and Tax planning
  • Completing of form P11d
  • Being able to interpret clients’ accounts and explain these to clients
  • When required, to be able to produce forecasts and budgets to assist clients in their business and finance planning
  • Preparing self-assessment tax returns and computations by examination of client’s financial records and producing accurate draft documents
  • Preparation of bills and assisting in the managing of work in progress by discussing with your Department Manager and taking appropriate action
  • Assisting Directors in the promotion of the company by attempting to cross-sell services at every opportunity

You will be self-motivated, organised and analytical individual with experience of dealing with difficult client issues and the ability to reflect on one’s own work as well as the wider consequences of financial decisions.

You will also possess good IT skills including Excel and Word skills to an intermediate level, e.g. HLOOLUP’s and Pivot Tables with a high level of numeracy, accuracy and negotiation skills. It is essential that you can demonstrate experience of working under pressure to deadlines and the ability to organise and prioritise workloads with good time management principles.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
5 years’ experience in an Accountancy Practice Experience of Xero or Iris software AAT qualified, working towards ACA, ACCA or equivalent Intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
