I have an exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated, experienced, and approachable Senior Bookkeeper to join a medium sized Firm that boasts a diverse and growing portfolio of clients. This busy role will support senior colleagues in the accounts department by undertaking a variety of bookkeeping tasks to a high standard. The successful candidate will have solid experience in bookkeeping, and be ready to help train up more junior staff to promote their ongoing professional development.
Roles & Responsiblitlites for the Senior Bookkeeper role based in East London:
Key Responsibilities
Assisting clients and colleagues with bookkeeping to support the preparation of management accounts, journals, reconciliations, VAT returns and generating records up to trial balance for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
Entering data in QuickBooks from client records, ensuring that cost types, payments, etc are accurately posted.
Preparation of sales and purchase ledgers
Drafting VAT Returns for review by senior colleagues
Liaising by e-mail, telephone, and face-to-face to deal with queries from colleagues and clients.
Proactively identifying challenges and proposing possible solutions.
Other tasks as reasonably requested by the Partners/Directors.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• AAT or equivalent qualified, with at least 5 years solid practice experience within the UK accounting sector. • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role • Excellent knowledge of company bookkeeping principles • Excellent understanding of the principles of VAT for limited companies and sole traders - including flat rate scheme • Desire to settle into long term position • Excellent written and spoken English. • Able to manage competing priorities. • Calm under pressure. • Flexible 'can do' attitude. • Able to act on own initiative to complete tasks proactively. • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, TaxCalc, QuickBooks. • Meticulous attention to detail.
