Job Description

The successful candidate will provide vital support to the site Finance Manager in a range of areas, including the preparation of quarterly forecasts / budgets and performance reporting. The role will involve working closely with a wide range of cross-functional stakeholders as well as guiding the offshore finance function. Developing Cost Centre Managers' financial awareness, managing the site capital investment process, and facilitating the management team in controlling and forecasting the cost base are all part of the responsibilities. A key element of the role is understanding and controlling the standard cost of production, whilst liaising with the operational team to explain variance to plan. A drive for continuous improvement will be crucial in order to develop the processes and practices of the site finance function

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business partner to site cost Centre managers, supporting them in overheads management
  • Supporting the Finance Manager in budget / quarterly forecasting processes
  • Standard product costing ownership including financial support for the development of new products
  • Supporting and liaising with project leads regarding capital reporting and forecasting
  • Site prime and overhead performance analysis and period-end reporting
  • Ensuring robust financial control through maintaining the site asset register, being responsible for timely capitalization, disposal, asset verification and the periodic balance sheet reconciliation review
  • Reviewing Statement of Process standardization
  • Supervision and support of the offshore team, including development training and acting as the first point of contact
  • Deputies as required for the Finance Manager
  • Ensuring that decisions, plans and strategies are formulated on a sound commercial and financial basis
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory and group accounting procedures, highlighting areas of concern as appropriate and taking corrective action
  • Coaching the Site operational team on financial matters
  • Supporting the other site finance roles as and when required

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Previous experience in an FMCG / manufacturing finance role is desirable. Costing experience is desirable. Experience in another organization across financial reporting and control. Previous experience of an ERP system (SAP, JD Edwards etc.). Strong analytical skills to provide robust and insightful financial analysis, including planning and forecasting and a desire to challenge. Experience of Financial Analysis / modelling / investment appraisal techniques. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to make financial analysis easily understood. Ability to plan effectively and work to deadlines under own initiative. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and equivalent Google programs. The desire to challenge the status quo.
