Job Description

Our Accountants support the delivery of company-wide transactions and processes, supporting the overall strategic objectives of the Finance Department, always keeping the end customer in mind.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Identifying financial risks and opportunities for departments, allowing the business to respond on a timely basis.
     
  • Retaining a customer focus.
     
  • Participating in projects based on providing expertise and support for improving business processes and procedures.
     
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with stores and internal stakeholders, to understand and meet their needs.
     
  • Consulting with stakeholders across the business to understand requirements and identify opportunities to speed up and simplify.
     
  • Producing budgets for key financial metrics.
     
  • Inputting into financial processes in line with controls and risk appetite.
     
  • Understanding the environment and implications of changes.
  • Providing variance analysis and trending techniques to measure performance against budget, forecasts and business cases.
     
  • Supporting a continuous improvement culture focusing on service, costs, cash flow by contributing in joint problem solving.
  • Generating ideas for improvement and drive through to delivery.
     
  • Producing periodic forecasts to enable stakeholders to understand the implications of current spend behaviors on the full year.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
So that you are set for success, we are looking for a self-starter, who is a strong communicator with the ability to influence at all levels. You will work as part of a versatile team with a can-do culture, so it’s important that you are tenacious and committed. Accounting qualification/certificate (CIMA / ACCA / ACA or equivalent). Experience of working in an accounting/finance environment in a similarly large business. Ideally practice trained. Attention to detail with ability to priorities and manage a varied workload to meet agreed deadlines. Stakeholder relationship management skills (both internal and external).
