Management Accountant

Job Description
Coordinate budgets for incorporation into the company financial forecasts, providing regular forecasts and projections and analysis of variances, identifying both risks and opportunities.
Prepare management reports in respect of product and departmental costs, including overhead absorption, variances from budgets and forecasts, standard cost rates, inventory etc.
Monitor and evaluate inventories, including regular physical inventory counts and reconciliations to the accounts.
Know and understand the financial plans and drivers, assumptions and indicators that underlie them and prepare analyses needed by management to effectively operate the business.
Notify the Head of Finance and Report promptly and explain variation on their impact on the business.
Assist with the specification and implementation of changes to the management information, financial and business systems including SAP.
Document systems and procedures and propose modifications to improve efficiency and/or service levels.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
You will hold an Accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACCA or ACA) or be in the last stage of qualification. Experience in a manufacturing environment is essential, being used to working with engineering and/or production departments on a daily basis. A solid knowledge of SAP is important, especially costing. You must have the ambition and desire to grow and make your mark in a changing SME. Be able to coach and work with colleagues to increase the understanding of financial information and data. Experience in a ‘made to order’/OEM business would be an advantage. Experience of reporting in a large (Group) environment would be an advantage.
