Working in a constantly changing, dynamic, fast paced and diverse environment, the Financial Controller is responsible for Management Accounting for Liberty Global and/or Virgin media. The Financial Manager role has been created by the planned reshore of the Liberty Global Shared Service Centre’s offshore operations in Bangalore, India to Bradford, UK. The role will suit a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail. The successful candidate must be deadline focused with an aptitude for process improvement and simplification.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Month-end activities:
  • Perform management accounting processes across the organization
  • Prepare journal entities
  • Prepare analysis and provide insight into areas of focus
  • Working within internal reporting deadlines
  • Making recommendation to improve and simplify processes
  • Liaise with Senior Stakeholders and influence decision making across the organization
• Control:
  • Implements an effective internal control framework
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, highlighting and resolving any issues
  • Ensuring compliance with SOx and other regulatory requirements
  • Liaising with auditors and providing evidence and supporting narrative as required
• Knowledge transfer / reshore activities:
  • Stage 1 – “lift and shift” activities from Bangalore, India to Bradford, UK, ensuring no reduction in outputs
  • Stage 2 – review & improve processes, driving simplification and automation of accounting and aligning processes where practical and possible

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc.). Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS. Qualified Accounting with Management Accounting and/or Audit experience. Experience of working within large corporate structures. Strong excel and financial systems skills (eg. Oracle, Hyperion/HFM). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to coach and develop others. Experience of working in a complex environment, delivering to deadlines. Researches into emerging / complex accounting or reporting issues. Assurance mindset – the ability to review accurately, but also to identify risks in processes and reconciliations and articulate/resolve/mitigate these as part of the monthly accounting cycle. Communicator - to provide clear and meaningful interpretation of analysis conducted. To be able to lead and control meetings with senior stakeholders. Stakeholdering – to be able to understand finance and operational stakeholder’s needs and requirements in order to provide excellent customer service. To understand the correct balance between challenge and support of these stakeholders in order to raise both the profile and external perception of the team.
