Job Description

To provide people focused leadership to the site Operations Managers and enabling them to manage their respective teams across all shifts by creating a collaborative environment which enables innovative thinking and problem solving to develop. Inspiring your team to be customer focused to meet the overall SLA's within a specified budget whilst striving to be results driven through continuous improvement of KPI's.

To be the main senior point of contact for Operations Managers when focusing on delivery of the site operations and distribution strategy.
Key Responsibilities

  • Coach and develop your direct reports, conducting meaningful PDR's and supporting personal development at every opportunity. Ensure objectives and development plans are communicated and cascaded through the management structure so all team members are clear on how to deliver.
  • Lead and engage your teams in the delivery of the site projects, initiatives or innovations.
  • Utilize the management structure to promote an environment where successes are recognized and celebrated with individuals.
  • Work collaboratively with the DC People Team to identify and manage performance opportunities in a constructive and supportive way.
  • Be an advocate for the advancement of strong succession planning, development of talent and training opportunities within the Operations Manager population and their wider teams.
  • Work collaboratively and in partnership with Warehouse Operations Managers and Distribution Operations Manager across all DC and transport networks to ensure continuity, optimizing of productivity and to share best practice.
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager, Shift Managers and Transport Manager to ensure the overall functions are aligned to ensure customer service standards are delivered within budget.
  • Drive KPI's and productivity across the site to include costs, accuracy, shrinkage and recycling revenue agreeing formal measures and controls amongst the team. Lead and encourage a culture of continuous improvement to push DC performance and KPI's.
  • Responsibility for overall budget control and longer-term cost reduction activity within inbound and outbound activities on site.
  • Lead the collaborative partnership with the Operations Managers to ensure that the Stock Management on site meets all auditor requirements and PI is conducted as required.
  • Drive Health and Safety accountability across the site. Work collaboratively with the Health and Safety team to maintain high levels of safety and providing consistent focus on staff wellbeing.
  • Lead the responsibility for chairing site meetings and staff briefings with the Operations Manager such as health and safety meetings, employee forums, operation briefings and union meetings ensuring appropriate actions for all site operations are addressed. In your absence, delegate this responsibility to Operations Managers to ensure continued and consistent management focus is provided.
  • Lead the collaborative partnership with the Operations Manager to ensure inbound and outbound related services, facilities and costs are maintained to a consistent standard and within budget.
  • Continuously review the labor model ensuring resources and supplier contracts meet business requirements.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders within Supply Chain Operations to help drive DC performance.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Previous experience of managing distribution center’s (5 years plus). Experience of managing ecommerce processes. Retail or FMCG experience. Managing inbound and outbound logistics. Must have experience of working in partnership with Unions. Come and be part of something special.
