Job Description

Qualifications:

  • Fully qualified Accountant - CCAB, CIMA or ACCA. Home based but will be onsite when required
  • Excellent Excel competency. This is essential. The successful person will be undertaking complex modelling and completing complex ESFA data returns in Excel.
     
  • Experience of dealing with senior leadership, with executive members and external stakeholders, including writing reports to draft stage. Again, this is essential given the profile of the role and contacts the role incurs.
  • A good understanding of the Education funding regime in England (so good working knowledge of all areas of the DSG, the Pupil Premium, Devolved Formula Capital etc). This can be learned however as we need someone who can hit the ground running, it is also a high priority competency.
  • Ability to handle difficult conversations. Again, a large part of the role is liaison with schools, including managing school expectations, ensuring they fulfil their commitments to the LA and managing schools in financial difficulty whereby hard choices must be communicated and local decision making challenged.
