About the job
We are looking for an Accounts Payable Assistant to join our Group and UK purchase ledger function, based in London. You will be responsible for assisting with the treasury and banking activity.
Your role responsibilities
- Complete payments and control expenses in a timely and efficient manner
- Proactive involvement in ensuring that cash transactions are processed promptly and accounted for appropriately
- Set-up of payments using the Group’s internet banking systems
- Ensure correct authorisation and analysis of purchase invoices
- Prepare the daily / monthly bank Reconciliations for relevant UK bank accounts, including in foreign currencies
- Processing of journals using Sun Systems and Vision/Q&A
- Support with the payment of personal expenses
- Internal cash transfers where required
- Support with cash flow forecasting
Key skills needed
- Attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high quality work under time pressure
- Willing to challenge cost centre managers and suppliers in a professional manner
- Good analytical skills
- Demonstrable experience of working to tight deadlines
- Experience with general ledger systems (preferably SUN) and with accounts payable workflow and treasury management software
- Good knowledge of Excel
- Use of online banking software
Nice to have
- Understanding of bookkeeping – AAT qualification or training a plus
