Job Description

The Support Services Team require an experienced administrator to carry out a range of administrative duties with limited supervision and to assist with the provision of system support of the Community Finance Unit. Key responsibilities:

  • Assist in ensuring that all systems are balanced and all outputs are distributed correctly and on time.
  • Provide administrative and technical assistance to senior staff
  • Assist with the timely and accurate production and dissemination of management information
  • Deal with first line support calls by gathering and recording accurate details
  • Update financial systems and spreadsheets accurately
  • Process customer payments and credits
  • Assist with the daily maintenance of the computerized systems including taking security backup copies.

You will be expected to have good organizational skills and be able to use IT effectively in implementing tasks.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Your recent UK working experience going back at least 5 years, or full employment history if you have been working for fewer years than this. Your availability to work either immediately, or at short notice. Minimum of 12 months recent office administration experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organization. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills consistent with the provision of a first line support service. Ability to plan and organize own workload. Good problem solving skills. Ability to understand arithmetical and logical formulae used in spreadsheets. Ability to relate to and work with other members of team, whilst also being willing and able to work at times on own initiative. Working knowledge of any of the following systems: Computerized revenues and/or benefits systems; Electronic Document Management systems; Ash Debtors and/or Agresso Financials Knowledge of Council Tax, NDR and Housing/Council Tax Benefits legislation. Excellent administrative skills. Experience of finance/revenues and benefits systems. Experience of financial spreadsheets. Experience of working to strict targets and deadlines. Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages.
