Job Description

Stakeholder management Prioritises the management of multiple internal client stakeholders who are all insisting that their client is a priority at month end effectively, thus being able to secure a balance between client service and pragmatism;
Uses effective communication methods, both written and verbal to ensure all stakeholders are kept fully informed of progress on service delivery, raising risks and issues on a timely basis;
Builds a strong reputation for delivering a quality, timely product recognising that this is a key ingredient of future success with our internal clients;
Builds strong stakeholder relationships and is regarded as a 'trusted advisor'.
Team leadership
Creates a strong team identity, establishing a 'right first time' culture through developing and setting key performance indicators for quality, timeliness and cost.
Acts as a strong role model, coaches and develops team members to perform at their best;
Willing "to roll their sleeves" up to deliver when needed;
Identify technical training needs, and work with individuals and the team to ensure gaps are filled;
Builds appropriate team structure to support service delivery, and development of junior staff members;
Anticipates resource requirements and acts promptly to ensure no disruption to client service;
Manages resourcing to allow for peaks e.g. month end and troughs in workload, anticipating holiday periods and ensuring adequate cover is in place;
Recognises and rewards good performance, motivating team members and creating a strong culture of inclusivity;
Deals with underperformance efficiently.

Operational management accounting
Leads the team to prepare management accounting information for final review by the 'Authorised Individual', ensuring all work produced by the team is accurate, timely, easy to follow and informative.
Role tasks include, but not limited to:
Develops 'standard' Belfast LCC output working files that result in consistency across clients and become the 'gold standard' for Outsourcing;
Reviews and signs off the work of the management accounting team, documenting review points and ensuring these are cleared with training delivered as appropriate;
Manages engagement budget relating to the work of the management accounting team, ensuring work is delivered to budget, raising issues with the Head of LCC, Service Delivery Lead, CSE and ESE as appropriate; Leads team to proactively prepare packs throughout the month to increase efficiency and quality at the month end;
Proactively and creatively manages tasks and team resources to deliver to tight deadlines;
Applies technical accounting knowledge to reviews, and suggests alternative approaches where appropriate, or engages technical expertise as required;
Ensures effective controls are in place to maintain compliance with Tax and Accounting policies and procedures; Develops the skills, knowledge and experience of the management accounting team.
Other duties As a key member of the Belfast LCC leadership team, actively engages in cross-team initiatives a view to delivering the overall success of the LCC;
Manages the development and maintenance of procedural documentation relevant to the management accounting team for knowledge transfer protocols;
Actively looks for opportunities to increase and expand their own knowledge base and that of the team through research, on the job training and participation in continuous improvement projects


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Highly experienced manager of teams; Excels at relationship building, adapting their style to the situation, being flexible in understanding the needs of the client and how to deliver an outstanding client experience; Is resilient, and can work calmly and effectively under pressure; Strong decision maker, can influence using reasoned arguments; Ability to recognise client issues quickly, and proactively respond with a resolution; Strong commercial acumen, can establish budgets, fees and billing schedules, ensuring profitability and ensuring that the team achieve targets set; Highly skilled at developing plans for managing tasks, engagements and team members in order to deliver to deadlines; Experience in developing, setting and measuring against KPI's; Is well respected by team members and can build a high performing team. Qualified accountant with at least 5 yrs post qualification experience; ERP experience (NetSuite, Oracle, Sage etc); Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; Highly developed client service skills; Practice/audit background preferred. .
