Job Description
  • Perform cashbook management duties for the Trust and Retail subsidiary accounts.
  • Perform duties in relation to fixed assets.
  • Process financial transactions in relation to initial sales, surrenders, buybacks and resales of properties.
  • Respond to internal and external queries.
  • Provide cover and general assistance as required on both cashbook and purchase ledger.
  • To undertake other duties as directed by the Financial Accountant.
  • Process cash and cashbook transactions accurately, completely and on a timely basis.
  • Review and monitor bank cash balances.
  • Create ad-hoc bank payments on the basis of appropriate documentation with authorization in line with delegated financial limits.
  • Process additions/disposals/depreciation and other fixed asset transactions within the accounting system (Open Accounts).
  • Process transactions relating to initial sales for new villages, surrenders, buybacks, and resales including the confirmation of legal documentation and updating of all necessary financial records.
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations for specified accounts within the nominal ledger as directed.
  • Prepare detailed analytical work using excel and its associated tools.

  • Adhere to and monitor compliance with financial controls, being part of a Finance team that leads by example.
  • Ensure that relevant Financial Regulations and policies are complied with and that accounting standards are adhered to.
  • Provide a high-quality service to customers and colleagues.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Be proactive in identifying areas for improvements and streamlining processes.
  • Review and challenge (where necessary/appropriate) the achievement of value for money across the charity and subsidiary.
  • Visit locations as necessary/where directed to support colleagues in need of support, guidance and training.

Our Finance Assistant post is a permanent, full-time position, 37.5 hours per week; you will receive a starting salary of £22,000 p/a, plus an excellent benefits package which includes:
