Job Description

As the assistant accountant you will have full responsibility for Fixed Asset reporting and Utilities accounting, as well as other aspects of financial accounting. The right candidate will have the opportunity to mould this role, and to grow and develop whilst supporting changing business needs.

  • Full responsibility for Fixed Asset Accounting, including:
    • Activating new assets and allocating assets into cost Centre’s/types/subtypes
    • CAPEX reporting and analysis
    • Budgets & forecasts
    • Fixed Asset note in the statutory accounts
    • Improving fixed asset processes and controls
  • Utilities accounting, analysis and process improvements.
  • Support stock reconciliation and variance analysis. Identify and Investigate system errors and see through to a resolution.
  • Month end accruals, journals and reconciliations to support the wider finance team.
  • Involvement in year-end audit requests and liaising with auditors. Proactively collating information through the year to ease pressures at year end.
  • Any other tasks deemed necessary as the role and business develops.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Part qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) keen to qualify and gain experience. Experience of Fixed Asset Accounting and General Ledger accounting. Experience of working to deadlines and a month end timetable. Have a good understanding of controls needed in an accounts department; able to question existing controls, and have experiences to draw from to be able to identify areas for improvement and propose solutions. Self-motivated and self-sufficient, not be afraid to get stuck in. Committed to unpicking the past and improving processes for the future. Naturally inquisitive and not shy to question processes and procedures. Ability to work quickly and accurately under time pressure with high attention to detail. Comfortable with remote learning and working. Strong organizational skills, flexible and able to adapt quickly to change, if not suggest the changes that are needed. Confident and professional manner with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to all levels on all platforms. A willingness to learn from, and share knowledge and experience with others.
