Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an Internal Auditor to join the UK Engineering Inspection Technical Standards team. As part of the role you will be responsible for timely and accurate completion of internal audits, including the co-ordination of external regulatory audits.

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who is able to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team. As a member of the team you will play a vital part in helping the department to achieve its regulatory objectives to ensure Engineering Inspection remains compliant with internal quality polices and ISO standards.

This role is available part-time, job-share or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognize that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time.

Key activities:

Examples of potential activities that you may be asked to support are:

  • Lead Auditor for all ISO standards and auditing of compliance with internal procedures.
  • Researches and delivers effective solutions to challenges in support of the relevant specialist area
  • To audit the systems which address and satisfy the requirements of all appropriate quality standards and appropriate underwriting standards.
  • Audits the above systems for current suitability to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Collates information to create presentations, aide memoires and briefings where appropriate.
  • Agree on final audit reports and corrective actions with appropriate department manager and oversee tracking and closure of agreed actions within defined deadlines.
  • Management and development of the annual audit plan to ensure compliance with QMS and relevant ISO Standards.
  • Management of additional standards/ scopes of accreditation/certifications with external regulators.
  • Ensure effectiveness of corrective actions implemented.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal

  • Reports to Chief Engineer
  • Works across the Engineering business to ensure that Technical Standards, service standards and effectiveness are maintained or improved.
  • Maintains effective business relationships across Engineering

External

  • Maintains effective relationships with external Regulators (UKAS)

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A-level standard of education. Experience in internal auditing for ISO 17020, ISO 17025, ISO 9001, ISO 45001 (an advantage). Preferable Level 4 qualification or above in Engineering Discipline Microsoft office experience essential; Excellent time and task management skills; Makes decisions in line with responsibility and accountability; Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail; Quality management experience.
