Job Description

This role sits within the Central Risk Management (RM) group in the UK – a team of approximately 90 risk management specialists covering a range of topics including auditor independence, financial crime, data protection, security, health & safety and other risk areas. RM works closely with Legal team, other risk management specialists embedded in the Service Lines and client handlers.

This role reports into the Compliance Risk Management Director; and sits in a team of approximately nine onshore heads and the team will grow by a further four heads. This team is responsible for data protection, client & engagement acceptance, a further eight policy areas, acquisitions / innovation, risk management partner matters (admissions testing and annual ratings), coordination of the SLQ network and other projects, as needed. We have an opportunity for a new senior manager role to focus on policy compliance and supporting acquisitions.

Your key responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance: for each of the following policies, manage the application of the firm’s compliance and risk framework (controls, testing, monitoring, and training) on a risk-based approach. As needed, you will implement any improvements to these policies as needed by the firm’s compliance and risk framework.

  • This role will also require the individual to be able to support the following additional areas, as needed:
    • Senior manager coordination of the risk management due diligence for acquisitions, technologies, alliances, new services etc.
    • Risk management aspects of partner matters: risk management testing of partner admissions and annual risk management ratings process.
    • Coordination of knowledge sharing and networking with the Service Line Quality
  • Other risk management responsibilities as needed on training, special projects etc

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Compliance experience to a senior manager level: the ability to monitor controls, testing, monitoring, training and record-keeping. Commercial awareness of the issues facing the business and the ability to deal with problems in a practical and common-sense way. Apply judgment to resolving complex risk and compliance matters. Ability to establish a high degree of credibility, respect and trust at all levels, including with senior partners of the firm. Ability to lead and take responsibility. Strong personal communication skills, capable of dealing with wide a range of people. Effective planning and organizational skills to priorities key areas of responsibility, tasks and projects. Knowledge of Assurance or other regulated activities, and experience of working with regulators would be an asset. Relevant qualifications in compliance and/or experience with any of the policy areas would be an asset.
