The following provides a non-exhaustive list of the duties and responsibilities that fall within the remit of the company accountant:
Responsible for managing all financial and administrative operations for the business
Overall control of sales, purchases, stock and nominal ledgers
Production of monthly, and 6 Month management accounts and working with the GM and dept managers to provide information that aids business growth and improvement
Production of annual accounts together with supporting schedules for audit
Grain administration including recording harvest intake, paying members for grain and maintaining grain ledgers
Monitoring daily bank & cash balances
Annual cash flow projections
Payroll including PAYE & benefits in kind
VAT
Completion of returns and questionnaires for government & other agencies
Company pension scheme
Maintain share registers & company database
Administer and renew insurance policies
Management & development of two FT admin staff
Managing the operation and development of the company’s IT hardware and software (in conjunction with our external IT support contractor)
o Accounts package: Pegasus Opera 3 plus Opera XRL
o Microsoft Office 365 to include Outlook, Excel, Word & Access
o KCPOS till software
o Precia Molen GeneSYS weighbridge software
o SIP phone system
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, pro-active and adaptable; a strategic thinker with the ability to envisage positive changes and who is ambitious in regard to their own personal development. The candidate will have: Essential Experience: A professional accountancy qualification (ACCA / CIMA / CA) or will be part-qualified with experience 5+ years of experience in a practical and responsible accountancy role Experience of accountancy software (Pegasus Opera or similar) Experience with all MS Office applications including trouble-shooting People management experience, including training and development Ability to develop and maintain excellent relations with colleagues and external contacts High attention to detail and the ability to communicate information well Ability to prioritise and manage workloads, meeting deadlines as required Desirable experience: A degree or equivalent EPOS experience Previous experience of IT systems management and development (selecting and overseeing the installation of new hardware & software) Experience of grain, agricultural supply, farming or retail environments
