Job Description

The business is well established, has an excellent reputation and is now looking for a Financial Controller, which is key to facilitate the next phase of organic growth for the business. The success to date has been built on providing a quality service to all, valuing staff and their relationships with customers and suppliers.

As Financial Controller, you will report to the CEO and the Senior Management Team. You would be responsible for facilitating timeliness and the accuracy of management accounting. As Financial Controller, you will lead and oversee the management of a small accounting team. Further duties will include the management of working capital, budgets and financial planning and that financial performance is aligned with the Company’s strategic goals. You will work closely with the Senior Management team to ensure strong financial measures and procedures are enforced.

As the Financial Controller, the role will include a varied and wide range of duties:

  • Production of management accounts, producing board packs, management accounts packs, KPI’s, Profit and Loss analysis;
  • Reporting to board on variances in management information;
  • Production of annual budgets and cash flow forecasts;
  • Ownership and control of the finance function, preparation and overseeing of accounts processes ensuring balance sheet reconciliations, all transactional processing is completed on time;
  • Working Capital Management on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis;
  • Management of a small accounts team providing leadership and training, to further their career and develop their skills;
  • Cash management and cash flow analysis;
  • Supporting the MD and board with financial reporting;
  • Liaise with the auditors and preparation of audit pack for statutory auditors;
  • Ensure timely external submission of Year End Accounts and Tax and VAT submissions;
  • Manage bank and audit relationships;
  • Be key support to the CEO and external consultant on added value projects of improvements and matters relevant to the accounts department

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
CIMA or ACCA/ACA qualified; Hand on accounting experience within a retail/construction or distribution; Good verbal and written communication skills; Demonstrable ability to manage a small team; Hands-on accounts experience with knowledge and experience of financial reporting; Driven to make improvements continuously; Good IT skills, and ERP systems; Strong character and good management skills; Attention to detail.
