The position will be an Associate Director of Finance opportunity on an interim basis for an initial 6 month period.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Finance Officer, the duties of the Associate Director of Finance – Corporate Services will be to provide overall leadership and direction to the Financial Services Function, consists of Financial Accounting, Capital Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Financial Systems and General Office
Coordinating the financial reporting functions, ensuring that all internal and external customers’ requirements are satisfied
The post will take overall responsibility for staff development, performance and disciplinary issues for the staff in financial services (circa 25 employees)
To manage the preparation of the statutory accounts in respect of annual turnover and net assets in accordance with IFRS and the Department of Health timetable
Liaise with internal and external auditors to ensure that all procedures are working effectively and that audit points are completed and actioned on a timely basis
Deliver effective internal controls over all financial systems which comply with financial control standards and best practice
Co-ordinate the capital budget setting process and take overall responsibility for the regular reporting of capital expenditure including the production of all relevant sections of the organizations Integrated Finance Report
To maximize the VAT recovery
Provide expert advice on financial and accounting matters to the rest of the Finance Department
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Qualified Accountant (CCAB). Extensive senior management experience of working within a large, complex, regulated organization. Able to demonstrate a successful record of financial leadership across the Financial Accounting, Capital Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and cashier functions whilst developing and motivating the teams. Experience of making judgments on highly complex, technical situations where action is required. Excellent verbal and written skills including the ability to summarize complex, technical financial issues into concise reports and prepare complex, multi- faceted reports.
