Job Description
  • Support new product engineering throughout the APQP process.
  • Support manufacturing, co-ordinate internal product / process improvement,
  • Problem solving and internal PPM improvements.
  • Interface with the customers to co-ordinate concerns and problem resolution.
  • Support purchasing when required to improve supplier performance.
  • Maintain & improve core quality documentation.
  • Maintain and improve quality and environmental system and procedures in line with ISO TS16949, ISO14001 and business requirements.
  • Carry out internal audits of the quality and environmental management system and follow up all corrective actions ensuring effective and timely response.
  • Formulate and conduct quality training and awareness events.
  • Undertake quality related projects.

Job Responsibilities and Major Activities/ Tasks

  • Manage the day to day activities that occur within the quality department. i.e. absence control,
  • To cover absences within the CMM department, to include any programming requirements that are required by customers.
  • Ensure PPAP requirements are achieved for all new, modified and existing parts on and ongoing basis.
  • Ensure part audits and process audits are carried out, measured and actioned.
  • Assist in use of CMM measurements and analysis techniques.
  • Develop control plans, supporting action plans and SPC, ensuring their use and assessing results.
  • Define and agree formal quality standards for pressed panels.
  • Ensure appropriate process control methods are employed.
  • To develop and implement quality operating procedures.
  • Collate, analyze and create plans to minimize the cost of quality, specifically reducing rectification and scrap.
  • Liaise with Production and Tool Room for the maintenance and improvement of tooling.
  • Maintain and improve quality and environmental system and procedures in line with ISO TS16949, ISO14001 and business requirements.
  • Ensure Customer complaints and issues are actioned through 8D system.
  • To act as mentor for the auditors and ensure adherence to procedures.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure maintenance of supplier quality achievement and management of supplier returns.
  • Assist Quality Manager as mentor to production teams on all quality matters.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the companies ISO TS 16949 and ISO 14001 requirements.

The Package

£38,000 plus benefits (£35k salary + £3k Shift Allowance)


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Qualified to HNC level, an equivalent NVQ or associate membership to the Institute of Quality Assurance. Experience in the development, implementation and auditing of quality systems and procedures. Experience in high volume manufacture, preferably automotive body in white. Knowledge of ISO/TS 16949:2002 and ISO14001. Working Knowledge of QS tools and procedures with particular references to IDEFs, APQP, SPC, FMEAs, MSA and PPAPs. Practical understanding and familiarity with pressed panel formability and processes. Working knowledge of pressed panel quality standards and checking media. Working knowledge of CMM machines (preferably Zeiss-Dimis). CAD (Catia) conversant. Fork lift truck and slinging license. Must be computer literate (word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS project). Excellent organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively at all level. Good presentational skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure with a flexible approach. Ability to use own initiative. Strong team player. Self-motivated and task orientated. Credibility within all levels of the business organization. Good planning and organizational skills.
