You will support the delivery of robust environmental evaluations, appraisals and assessments and provide advice to a wide range of projects covering all transport modes and associated infrastructure across the business. This includes assisting in the planning and delivery of projects in line with UK legislation and local environmental, sustainability and equality policies, as well as assisting to minimise town planning consent risk by applying best practice environmental techniques, including screening out Environmental Impact Assessment. You will provide guidance across a number of projects at any given time and support senior colleagues with the management of project teams, including instructing and managing external consultants on a day to day basis.
Responsibilities:
Provide guidance and support to project teams on a range of environmental topics
Support the appointment and management of specialist external environmental consultants (eg air quality, noise), interpret results and advise projects as required
Support the management of environmental evaluations, appraisals, assessments and Environmental Impact Assessments
Prepare environmental appraisals and planning documents to support planning applications
Liaise with London Boroughs and other relevant planning and environmental stakeholders to minimise consent risk, including Natural England, Environment Agency, Historic England, Port of London Authority, Marine Management Organisation and relevant TfL internal stakeholders
Support public consultations, communicate environmental constraints and mitigations with members of the public

Relevant degree level qualification
Membership of relevant professional body, or looking to work / working towards membership

Understanding of the key principles of an Environmental Impact Assessment Production of written reports and appraisals Technical review of environmental reports and collation of essential information Experience of or previous exposure to major planning applications (Town & Country Planning Act, Transport and Works Act Orders / Development Consent Orders /Hybrid Bill) Experience of internal and external stakeholder engagement Experience and knowledge of carbon assessment
