Job Description

A growing family owned business has identified the need for a very commercially focused Finance Controller. The business has been established for over 15 years and has grown to over 25 staff with a turnover fast approaching £10m and realistic growth plans to significantly exceed this over the coming years. This is a newly created position and will be reporting directly to the Managing Director. The current accounting function is very capable and is producing accurate accounts but is very reactive and the business owners have identified the need for a commercially minded Financial Controller to influence operational decision making and strategy

Responsibilities

• Management of finance function of three, taking a lead in people and professional development, whilst promoting a culture of strong performance
• Assist the Directors and shareholders in the design and implementation of longer term strategic and short-term business plans
• Business partnering closely with the MD and other senior stakeholders to ensure the group hits its strategic milestones
• Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
• Support month-end and year-end close process
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Additional controller duties as necessary

The ideal candidate will have the following skills, attributes and qualifications...

• Proven working experience as a Financial Controller
• ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified accountant
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
• Experience with creating financial statements
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
• Excellent accounting software user and administration skills

Benefits

£50-55k depending on experience
