An interesting new opportunity has arisen at a local authority in the North West for an experienced accountant to lend support to the corporate team whilst it goes through a period of transformation.
Reporting directly to the Section 151 Officer, you will work closely with the finance team to find and implement more efficient processes and best practice in support of the corporate areas at the council. The aim is to achieve the timely provision of high quality, consistent financial advice, information and support the organisation in order to deliver strategic and operational financial planning, monitoring and reporting. In order to do this, you will develop and maintain good working relationships with our range of key stakeholders including statutory partners, service providers, voluntary section and customers.
You will be a qualified accountant, or equivalent, who is able to demonstrate previous experience of transformation where it has been necessary to inspire and influence a team to find and adapt to new ways of working. Significant exposure to financial management and control will be necessary and there is a strong preference for this to have been gained within a local authority environment specifically. As you will be working with a range of people, strong communication skills will be very important.
This role is likely to be busy straight away but, as a result, should be very rewarding for the right person.
