Role Specification:
SENIOR INTERNAL ACCOUNTANT - £40 -£45K
1. Main function of job
(Note: in addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required).
- To deliver to the Practice Manager/ Financial Controller all bookkeeping aspects on the Group in a timely, accurate and organised manner.
- To support the Practice Manager/ Financial Controller with the general financial reporting on the Practice.
- Responsibility for raising the firm's internal payroll each month. This could potentially involve preparing the Pension reports & associated tasks? Which are often done in conjunction with the payroll.
- Aid the smooth running of the Accounts/ Finance team in line with the firm's values.
2. Main duties
- Ensuring that all aspects of the firm's bookkeeping aspects ie control of cash books and ledgers are accurate and supportive of management account preparation.
- Raising the firm's internal payroll each month liaising with HR and ensuring employees are paid correctly each month. This is anticipated to be no more than 4 days a month. This will also involve preparing and submitting year end forms and necessary reports.
- Contributing to the month end and year end processes, making sure that billings, variances and journals are posted into the firm's finance systems in a timely manner.
- Supporting the Accounts team with the firm's annual budget and half-yearly forecasting processes.
- Being aware of the financial performance of the firm; understanding key performance indicators and analysis of variances to support the Practice Manager/ Financial Controller in the department's reporting responsibilities.
- Understanding how the bookkeeping aspect of the role contributes to the month end and year end processes.
- Preparing National Statistics Reports, Other Financial Data Reports for marketing purposes and providing data analysis for Insurance Cover
- Assisting with quarterly reporting of KPI's
- Preparation of P11D's and PSA
- Ensuring data integrity of nominal ledger and that balance sheet accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis
- Providing the tax team with nominal analysis of various expense headings for the preparation of personal and corporation tax returns
- Assistance in providing the necessary information to prepare the statutory accounts
- Other ad hoc duties in line with the role

- Practice Management System (CCH)
4. Qualifications/education required
- Educated as a minimum to GCSE/CSE standard to include Maths and English
- It would be desirable if the candidate was qualified or part qualified in AAT, CIMA, ACCA or ACA. Or qualified by experience.
5. Experience required
- Previous experience in a similar role/environment
- Preparation of computerised accounts
- Payroll experience and understanding of complete confidentiality

- Experience of working in a partnership/service sector/time-cased recording environment
- Strong client service ethic
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)

- Strong Microsoft skills, particularly in Excel
