We have a great new opportunity to join the team at Walnut Unlimited as a Payroll Administrator. You will join an existing team supporting payroll, pension scheme and general enquires, for several agencies across the Unlimited Group.
DESCRIPTION
Our new Payroll Administrator will provide timely and accurate payment of salaries and wages to all staff. Using Sage 50 payroll you will run the Unlimited Group’s payrolls.
You will manage Walnut Unlimited’s pension schemes, ensuring compliance with pension legislation and auto-enrolment including postponement, communications with workers and re-enrolment every three years. You will help with support for pension assessments within the group.
Acting as a point of contact for all payroll enquiries, you’ll answer questions from employees and managers, liaising with external agencies such as HM Revenue and Customs and the Department for Work and Pensions.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring new starters are set up on the payroll system, leavers are removed, input is made to pay salaries and hours claimed, checks for accuracy of statutory and voluntary deductions (including tax, NI, loans, salary sacrifice etc) from salary are applied with appropriate authorisation
- Preparation of electronic payments for fortnightly and monthly payroll
- Accurate calculation and transfer of monthly payments to HMRC for tax and NI contributions, and other deductions and returns using RTI
- Provide information, analysis and reports on budget spend, sickness absence, salaries and any other reports requested, creating and maintaining payroll policies and procedures
- Advise on tax and pay laws, checking and auditing payroll to compliance with regulations, issuing tax forms (e.g. P45s, P60s) and support with P11d’s
- Manage pension auto-enrolment process ensuring compliance with the law. Ensure appropriate communications are sent to workers in line with the Pension Regulator’s requirements
- Monthly and annual legislative returns are made on time and accurately to appropriate bodies
- Ensure high standards of quality and accuracy are consistently reflected in all activity including data entry, validation, reporting, analysis, accuracy, enquiry responses, task completion, deadline delivery and communications
- Effective management and execution of multiple tasks, with the ability to prioritise and sequence workload in line with objectives and deadlines
- Effective budget and resource management and monitoring, escalating issues when required
Requirements
- Extensive use of SAGE 50, with end to end experience of payroll management
- Ideally you will be an Affiliate or Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professional with a Payroll or Pension Technician Certificate
- The ability and experience to deal with multiple payrolls / queries efficiently at the same time whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience of handling confidential data with professionalism and discretion
- Good listening and questioning skills, you’ll be able to clearly communicate with employees and colleagues, including fieldworkers and supervisors around the country to ensure excellent payroll delivery
- Excellent communication and literacy skills including the ability to interpret data and produce effective verbal and written reports and correspondence
- Excellent attention to detail, and accuracy with a flexible approach to ensure any changes to workload priorities can be accommodated
- A flexible and hands on approach to work, assisting teams across the whole business in delivering administrative tasks to achieve company success
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to plan ahead with high levels of attention to detail, completing your own work accurately and on time while keeping track of the team’s workload
- Fully IT literate, and an expert in MS Excel
