Job Description

About School:

This is an 8-form secondary school which passionately drive strong discipline, high quality teaching, mastery curriculum, raising aspirations and enrichment, character development and leadership development as their main 6 pillars.

The school have recently moved into their new, bright and airy building, which will feature a new library and a dining hall opening onto a courtyard, along with modern classrooms, a 5-court sports hall and a sixth form common room and study space. Outside, staff and students will benefit from a new all-weather pitch for sports like football, hockey, rugby and cricket and a multi-use games area for sports like basketball, netball and mini-tennis.

In their recent OFSTED inspection (October 2019) it was recognised that:

"The headteacher and leaders have very high expectations…… Staff want all pupils to succeed in every area of their lives, not just academically."

"Pupils, parents and staff all agree that the school has improved out of all recognition. Pupils are proud of the school."

"The school is a calm, safe and supportive place for pupils. Pupils behave very well in lessons. They get on well with one another and with adults. At breaktimes the atmosphere in social areas is friendly. Pupils say they feel safe and bullying is not a problem. If there is any, it is dealt with quickly."

" Staff morale is high. Excellent training helps to motivate them. Leaders listen to their concerns and do all they can to keep the workload manageable."

The Role:

  • Establishing and maintaining effective and efficient systems and processes to support the effective running of the academy (first aid, behaviour data, enrichment attendance and trips).
  • Providing a comprehensive high-level administration support service across the academy to ensure that tasks are completed to a high standard in a timely and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide general clerical, administrative support e.g. photocopying, filing, emailing, completion of standard forms, respond to routine correspondence, letters to parents, etc
  • To maintain manual and computerised records. Collating information on pupils for meetings
  • Organise appointments with Parents on behalf of the pastoral team
  • Generate and share pastoral data reports
  • To use the databases and administrative systems, ensuring they are kept up to date and relevant information is disseminated to appropriate members of staff
  • To produce documents (including presentations, correspondence, reports and spreadsheets), to produce a finished document in line with school standards, making certain that confidentiality is maintained when required
  • Completing information requests that are sent through from Social Care
  • To ensure that telephone and email queries are dealt with effectively, taking the initiative to identify and handle issues that arise on behalf of the leadership team and others
  • Process behaviour and merits text messages to parents
  • Collate and process nominations for half termly awards at celebration assemblies
  • To assist with the organisation of school trips
  • To be responsible for making telephones calls to parents regarding issues such as uniform, detentions as directed, recording details of this contact and referring matters forward to academy staff as appropriate
  • First Aid duties - First point of contact in aiding pupils in medical room and contacting parents (need to be first aid trained)
  • Updating medical history/conditions onto Bromcom
  • Supervising the vaccination programme
  • Ensuring individual pupils have personal items returned (if named) and that all lost property is cleared from the Lost Property storage area.
