Job Description

The role is vital to the organisation in maintaining and improving the financial standing of the business.

The candidate will report to the Managing Director and sit within the Management Team of the business.

The role will control cash’ liquidity, debt and be responsible for all accounting tasks within the business.

The position will have two direct reports:

Assistant Account: Daily cash payments’ sale invoice raising and debt chasing.

Shipping Administrator: Responsible for ensuring all client documents are in place prior to, and after a despatch of goods.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Posting daily cash, bank reconciliations.
2. Forecasting cash payments from incoming material commitments through to stock.
3. Ensuring suppliers are processed correctly and paid on time.
4. Managing the Shipping Administrator, ensuring their task are completed when required, and providing cover when they are absent.
5. Managing the Assistant Accountant, ensuring their tasks are completed when required, and providing cover when are absent.
6. Ensuring the Foreign Exchange position of the company is covered, and posting foreign trades as required.
7. Responsible for accruals and prepayments.
8. Maintaining the accounting system.
9. Ensuring all month end processes are following correctly and preparing monthly accounts for review by the Managing Director.
10. Full compliance with all HMRC monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc requirements.
11. Responsible for accounting and cost control of overheads.
12. Preparation of year end accounts and leasing with auditors through the audit process.
13. Assisting auditors with yearend Corporation Tax.
14. Any other reasonable tasks as required by the business.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Qualified accountant with (5 years plus ACA/ACCA) that has worked in a similar industry for a minimum of 3 years. Experience of team management. Can demonstrate success with a role where they were solely responsible for all aspects of the accounting process. Can demonstrate and backup with suitable references their diligent working nature and trust. The person will need to be willing to get involved in the basics of accounting, through to month end and year end processes.
