Job Description

The Quality Function is responsible for ensuring that customer requests are understood and translated into robust processes, which comply with legal and quality approval requirements. This is achieved by working with all employees to increase the company's efficiency, effectiveness and profitability by identifying and facilitating opportunities for improvement.
The role is to be the primary manufacturing engineering point of contact with designated suppliers (mostly from EMEA region) and to drive the Zero Defects programme with designated suppliers.
The job-role will be accountable for reviewing and accepting problem resolution responses from suppliers, reviewing customer requirements and making sure the customer and design authority requirements are adhered to.
This role may involve travelling to suppliers (mostly UK-based). Pool car or Hire car will be provided for travelling.

Key Responsibilities

  • To conduct audits and assessments to verify product validation processes to ensure suppliers manufacturing systems are capable of reliably achieving the required engineering standards.
  • To interface with suppliers if things go wrong to agree technical resolution/investigation in timely manner to eliminate potential product integrity risks to the company and its customer business.
  • Building relationships with the suppliers to ensure smooth resolution of technical queries and processes and educate suppliers in the application of manufacturing, measurement and inspection methods.
  • Expediting problem resolution to ensure all issues are quickly and robustly managed with minimum disruption to company and customers.
  • Verifying corrective actions (at source whenever possible) to confirm robust fix and compliance to process.
  • Improving Right First Time Supplier submission of FAIR's, Source Change, Concessions and DAR's.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Some experience of working within Aerospace manufacturing facility. Engineering degree or HND / HNC or NVQ 3 with relevant experience in mechanical, manufacturing, process or materials engineering. Experienced or Trained in Material /Process/Manufacturing specific topics (via NPL, AMRC, MTC or equivalent). Knowledge and experience of AS13000 (Problem Solving), AS13003 (MSA), AS13004 (PFMEA), AS13006, AS9102 (First Article Inspection), AS9100 or equivalent. Lean Sigma certification (Green belt or Black belt) is preferred. Auditor experience/ qualification. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings. Good presentation skills. Driving license.
