The Finance Auditor will agree a clear outline of the scope of the audit and how it will be undertaken. They will evaluate controls, design and apply tests and obtain sufficient and relevant evidence to confirm controls are operating as required in order to form an opinion.
They will report verbally and in writing the conclusion reached and the level of assurance to be given, as well as make balanced recommendations for improvements where appropriate.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ideal candidates will demonstrate the following: Final AAT qualification together with relevant experience. OR An equivalent qualification such as P.I.I.A or CIPFA Diploma in Public Audit or CCAB year 2 together with relevant experience. OR Substantial relevant internal audit experience including some experience of work at a comparable level. Demonstrable experience of undertaking risk based internal audits and programmed audits. Substantial understanding of modern internal audit techniques and their application in local government. Substantial understanding of risk management and corporate governance frameworks. A good understanding of the political and financial environment affecting local authority service delivery. Experience of operating successfully within political, corporate, policy and/or financial constraints. Experience: local government finance audit: 1 year (Required).
