Job Description

This is a full time, temporary position and the ideal candidate will have experience / understanding of highway design, and ability to use Autocad.

This role will be based in the Highways Major Design team and will be focused on working as part of a team, alongside 3rd party consultants to undertake design checks, on concept designs, followed by detail design of approx £60m + of highway infrastructure improvement schemes funded by DfT Transforming Cities Funding.

Work alongside the Principal and Senior Engineers assisting with the detail design of major highway schemes.
Work with Transportation colleagues to develop concept plans into detail design and construction drawings.
Assist in the preparation of contract drawings and documentation for the major highway schemes you are involved in.
Get involved in other work across the Design team, which may involve schemes generated from; agreements made under Section 38, 278 or 106 of the Highways Act.
Play a part in the delivery of those highway projects you have had a hand in designing.
Undertake or assist with, depending on their complexity, inspections of works being undertaken on site, and keep clear and accurate records of those inspections.
Assist in undertaking the relevant duty holder's role under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, in particular, Designer.
