Job Description

Role: Semi-Senior Accountant

Location: Belper, Derbyshire

Salary: £19,000 to £23,000 (plus study support)

My Client is a firm of Accountants based in Belper offering Accounts, Taxation and Business Advisory and Support services to a wide range of business advisory and support services to a wide range of business and individual. Due to their on going growth they are looking for an AAT Qualified Accountant to join their team and continue their studies.. The practice is a small firm with a friendly team and relaxed atmosphere. It works with a multitude of businesses but is geared predominantly toward owner managed and family business structures.

The main responsibilities for the Semi-Senior Accountant will include:

  • Accounts preparation and finalisation for Limited Companies, Sole Traders, Partnerships
  • Corporate, Personal and Partnership Tax Computations and Returns
  • VAT calculations and submissions and ensuring clients are MTD for VAT compliant
  • Liaising with clients on a regular basis regarding their Accounts, Tax and other related work
  • Reporting to Managers and Senior Accountants
  • Completing CPD requirements
  • Completing Money Laundering and GDPR requirements
  • Ad-hoc duties as required

About you:

  • AAT qualified
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a public practice accountancy firm
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Good IT knowledge including Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Effective communication skills not just with clients but with staff and managers also.
  • Knowledge of IRIS and Sage is essential (Knowledge of QuickBooks, Free Agent and Xero desirable but training can be provided)
  • Full UK driving licence (you may be required to travel to clients premises)
