Job Description

The Carrier Operations Specialist continually monitors the performance of major carriers in terms of their accurate delivery of loads and capacity to Amazon Centre’s, while agreeing actions with the carriers to deliver performance improvements and thereby improve customer service.
Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the carrier operations specialist must analyze detailed data in multiple formats to identify the root cause of poor load positioning, and make sure that solutions are delivered that satisfy the needs of capacity, planning and scheduling as well as legal requirements.
Main responsibilities

  • Track existing metrics and validate data to identify root cause
  • Daily, weekly and monthly reporting of carrier performance in pan-EU calls
  • Liaising with carriers in daily meetings to understand issues and barriers to performance
  • Driving and agreeing solutions that solve root cause issues while maintaining core business performance to multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Attend off-site meetings to look at structural issues carriers face and audit against best practice framework
  • Develop secondary specialties in related discipline to make sure that Amazon stakeholder needs are represented in the COM decision-making process
  • Build effective relationships across Amazon and Carriers to ensure quick and effective change management
  • Contribute to the strategic planning to help drive growth for future years

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A degree in Business, Economics, Logistics, Engineering, Mathematics or similar. Excellent interpersonal and networking skills. Negotiations/logistics skills. Fluent in English. Ability to communicate across all levels of management. Good written skills able to express concepts clearly and concisely. Strong analytical skills. Advanced computer proficiency in Excel. Confident in getting points across, especially under pressure. Great time management Willing to travel to any of our FC/3PL sites in the region of coverage. To be successful in this role, you need a passion for making confident data-driven decisions which will have a direct and fundamental impact on customer experience. Some keys to your success will be the ability to be an effective communicator to various audiences. And to drive effective and sustainable change both inside and outside Amazon. The ability to remain flexible and adapt to learning new tools and systems is instrumental in your role on the team. Our environment is deadline driven, fast paced, and requires you to be detail-oriented and comfortable in a rapidly evolving environment, tracking both short-term and strategic goal progress. Experience with supply chain management and transportation concepts such as planning, scheduling, logistics, delivery performance, carrier performance. Data and metrics driven focus, both qualitative and quantitative. Strong analytical background; comfortable in ambiguous situations. Degree in Engineering, Maths, Business or Supply Chain. Proficiency in Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps). +3 years’ work experience in operations/supply chain/logistics/e-commerce. Experience managing clients and subcontractor relationships.
