Job Description

The Systems Administration team are critical in delivering services to our customers, being responsible for the management of key accounts, maintaining security best practice, supporting our 2nd line team, and working with the Sales departments on proposals.

You will take on different functions within the team, split across three areas:

Escalations– Help deliver resolutions to tickets that have been escalated from our 2nd line team, and dealing with high priority customers directly.

Maintenance– Carrying out server maintenance on customer’s operating systems and hardware. Proactive maintenance is critical to managing customer’s perceptions of our support.

Research and Development/Training– Research new technologies and processes that help to automate our systems and deliver a consistent level of service. You will also be expected to continually train so that your knowledge helps the business deliver on its goals.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
You should have a good knowledge of internet technologies, specifically those used to deliver website hosting. You should also be able to understand the interaction between hardware and software. Confidence of working with networks, and being able to diagnose faults is also crucial.Other areas of knowledge that would be required: Linux and Windows administrative knowledge. Virtualization and virtual machine management including, VMware and KVM (Xen and Hyper-V advantageous). Familiarity with open source tools. Networking concept. Diagnostic skills, and lateral thinking. Basic database administration including MySQL (MariaDB) and MSSQL. Ability to learn new technologies. A Linux or Microsoft certification would be advantageous. Evidenced right to work in the UK is a pre-requisite for this role. This role would be of particular interest to someone with a qualification in a Linux or Windows looking to advance their career, with a keen desire to improve their knowledge on a diverse amount of technologies. Experience: Linux Server: 2 years (Required). Windows Server: 2 years (Preferred). System administrator: 1 year (Required).
