Job Description

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Answer telephone, screen and direct calls
  • Book customer orders
  • Operate Weigh Bridge
  • Assign jobs to drivers
  • Take and relay messages
  • Provide information to callers
  • Greet persons entering office
  • Deal with queries from the public and customers
  • Take card payments
  • Monitor visitor access and maintain Safety & security awareness,
  • Provide general administrative and clerical support to office manager
  • Prepare correspondence and documents
  • Monitor and recording of all staff hours (Clock Cards)
  • Tidy and maintain the office areas

The above activities are designed to give the job holder an overall view of their daily activities. The list is not exhaustive. The job holder will also perform other activities as instructed by their line manager.

Office Hours are 07:00 - 17:30. Start times range between an 07:00 start and a 9am start. Finish times can range from 4pm until 5:30pm. This can be discussed in more detail at interview stages.

Successful applicant will also form part of a Saturday Rota which is 1 in every 3 at the moment.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
High School Certificates generally required. Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures. Knowledge of computers and relevant software application. Knowledge of customer service principles and practices. Keyboard skills. Ability to Deal with customers. Ability to Deal with Drivers. Verbal and written communication skills. Professional personal presentation. Customer service orientation. Information management. Organizing and planning. Attention to detail. Initiative. Reliability.
