Mental Health Act Administrator Band 4
We are looking to recruit someone with enthusiasm, discretion and an eye for detail to work alongside experienced staff within our mental health act office at Hammersmith and Fulham Mental health Unit. This is a valuable opportunity for someone who wants to use their administrative skills while making an important contribution to patient care across both local and forensic services.
You will need a willingness to learn about the mental health act and other mental health law with some relevant administrative experience in a busy environment and a genuine interest in acquiring further knowledge through on the job training. Though based in Hammersmith & Fulham, to meet the needs of the service, we are looking for someone who is willing to provide occasional cover for colleagues in any of our three London boroughs.
Specific tasks will include the following:
- Ensure the maintenance of accurate and efficient filing systems, including both paper and computerised systems ensuring strict confidentiality of identifiable information.
- To provide an accessible point of reference and advice to patients and staff in relation to the Mental Health Act and associated legislation.
- Maintain appropriate liaison with allied professionals including all internal and external agencies to ensure the Mental Health Act requirements are complied with.
- Arrange Mental Health Tribunals and Associate Hospital Managers hearings, requesting reports, organising representation for the patient and booking venues.
- To use your own initiative to manage and prioritise workload.
- To work flexibly with the department to ensure the workload pressures and absences due to annual leave are dealt with appropriately, by using available resources.
- Maintain a professional and confidential approach to work at all times and be able to adhere to confidentiality when dealing with sensitive issues.
- To be familiar with and comply with relevant Trust Operational, Personnel and Health and Safety procedures.
- Provide cover for annual leave and sick leave for the Band 5 Senior Mental Health Act Administrators.
Experience of Microsoft packages coupled with a proven administration background are essential.
You must be able to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
Support and training will be given to the successful candidate.
