Job Description

The successful candidate will have extensive experience running payroll with Sage 50 accounting software and will provide support to the UK Business and the wider HR team. The key relationships internally are with Operations, HR and Finance, and externally with their outsourced payroll provider and tax/audit companies.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work proactively with outsourced payroll provider ensuring adherence to deadline dates
  • Collate all timesheets from the business and ensure that they are submitted on time
  • Check all hours recorded on timesheets e.g. basic pay and overtime is accurately captured
  • Identify any anomalies with pay data and check with the business to ascertain accuracy
  • Work with HR to ensure attendance records including SSP certificates are on You Manage
  • Dealing with attachment of earnings (DEO) and ensuring that these are processed with HR
  • Coordinate with HR about changes in payroll (e.g. terminations, new hires, leavers)
  • Process all sales commission payments and other incentive/bonus scheme arrangements
  • Answer employee payroll related queries
  • Check payroll reports sent by outsourced provider prior to final bacs submission
  • Ensure all Payroll journals are input into Sage and accounts are reconciled
  • Ensure the HR You Manage system is updated with any pay or personal pay data changes
  • Provide all data on taxable benefits to enable the processing of P11D information
  • Process staff expenses including credit card costs, parking and other related items
  • Assist the finance department in general duties such as month end reporting
  • Assist the finance department in purchase ledger work and sales invoicing activities
  • Produce reports to management upon request with payroll and finance data

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proven experience as a payroll coordinator or similar role responsible for payroll duties Familiarity with payroll processes and working with outsourced payroll providers Good knowledge of legislation relevant to accounting and payroll Comfortable with Excel and able to perform analytical tasks such as pivot tables An analytical mind and able to identify data integrity/compliance issues Effective communicator and able to resolve queries with external and internal stakeholders Experience of reviewing processes and implementing changes to improve efficiencies Experienced with Sage 50 and Microsoft Office Products, especially Excel Organised with proactive attitude and strong attention to detail Works well within a team, with a flexible and proactive nature
