Job Description

The Institute of Philosphy are now seeking a Project Administrator. As the Project Administrator you will be responsible for providing a dedicated administrative support to the European Research Council ("ERC") Consolidator Grant project on the Metacognition of Concepts. This role is a part time position at 17.5 hours per week.

The Institute of Philosophy are currently seeking a Project Administrator. As the Project Administrator you will be responsible for providing a dedicated administrative support to the European Research Council ("ERC") Consolidator Grant project on the Metacognition of Concepts. This role is a part time position at 17.5 hours per week (0.5FTE). The successful candidate will be expected to take up the position on 15th October 2019 or as soon as possible.

The Institute of Philosophy

The Institute of Philosophy (IP) was founded in 2005, building upon and developing the work of the Philosophy Programme from 1995–2005. The Institute’s mission is to promote and support philosophy of the highest quality in all its forms, both inside and outside the University, and across the UK. Its activities divide into three kinds: events, fellowships and research facilitation.

The Role

The purpose of this post is to provide dedicated administrative support to the European Research Council (“ERC”) Consolidator Grant project on the Metacognition of Concepts. The project is hosted at the Institute of Philosophy (“IP”) and the Principal Investigator is Nicholas Shea (Professor of Philosophy at the IP). The person appointed will play a key role in ensuring the success of the project.
 

The post-holder will be expected to work closely with the Principal Investigator, and the range of collaborators who will be involved. He or she will be responsible for planning and organising events and activities, both academic and public, and for the wider communication surrounding the project. ERC programmes will also enable the post-holder to work collaboratively with other projects. The post-holder will be expected to liaise closely with administrative staff in the various universities involved, and with relevant officers and offices in the ERC.

To be considered for this role you must have administrative experience as a result of work or study, in a higher education institution or similar environment. You must have experience of successfully organising major events and the ability to work accurately and efficiently to fixed deadlines with minimal supervision. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a high level of numeracy. Please note, all candidates must have experience in managing a budget in a higher education environment and have previous experience organising and running events. If you do not have demonstrable experience in these areas, your application will not be progressed to the next stage of recruitment.
