Job Description

The team is responsible for managing pro-active relationships with the Asset Data Providers in order to collate and review the necessary Investment Data for population into the Asset Data Store.

The data therein is used to report Asset QRTs for the PRA, as well providing additional asset data feeds to in-house teams for modelling and reporting purposes. The team also manage and maintain the Asset Data Store system ensuring controls are consistently applied and reflect all current regulatory requirements.

From 2020 the team is also now responsible for the production of Asset Valuation Uncertainty and Independent Price Verification reports on a biannual basis.

  • Lead the activities of the UK Data Management team, coordinating workload, responsibilities and development of the members
  • Proactively process and coordinate the controls around monthly asset data review and uploads from key data suppliers
  • Be the first point of contact for issue escalation both from the team and wider business stakeholders
  • Work with our business units to ensure that data supporting risk and regulatory reporting is actively and intelligently managed
  • Use vendor tools to support checking / analysis of investment data submission. Providing SME oversight to resolve data issues with our providers
  • Provide insight regarding monthly reporting to ensure that the data supporting the business meets expectations
  • Develop and actively manage appropriate controls and sign off processes across the Markit EDM application

Key Responsibilities for this role:

  • To work collaboratively with colleagues and take personal accountability to maintain and enhance controls you are responsible for to support improvement of the overall control environment, customers outcomes and a reduction in M&G’s operational risk.
  • Collection of data from appropriate sources, ensuring accurate and up to date security information on the various systems - deadline driven
  • Provide day to day support to the business teams ensuring that the appropriate controls are in place to support the data requirements of the business
  • Ensure that the end to end delivery of data is managed with key departments and the business.
  • Develop a full understanding of new instruments and markets
  • Work alongside reporting resources (including an offshore resource) to support the monthly / quarterly reporting process
  • Work with Risk, BU and Finance to manage initiatives to consolidate or improve the data services provided to the business
  • Investigate data issues and establish an appropriate resolution
  • Research and analyze data on behalf of the business utilizing Bloomberg
  • Make any procedural enhancements and development of business processes
  • Efficient completion of month end tasks allocated - deadline drive
  • Analyze data completeness, accuracy and consistency levels, ensuring that these aspects of data quality are actively managed
  • Works with the business on an on-going basis to ensure new data quality requirements are captured
  • Ensure any significant data quality issues are escalated and managed effectively
  • Ensure that key risks regarding data are understood and controlled effectively

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong data analysis skills. Advance Excel Skills. Clear and concise communicator. Ability to build and manage relationships with team members and stakeholders. Broad understanding of the investment industry. Broad understanding of investment products including derivatives. Insurance and regulatory framework especially Solvency II. Knowledge of Markit EDM (Markit EDM). Advanced Word. Ability to use basic SQL to investigate data.
