Job Description

Our investment business is a key component of our consulting services and firmly established as a UK market leader. We currently advise on over £150 billion of assets for a diverse client base which spans corporate and trustee bodies and across a wide variety of business and industry sectors, as well as local government pension schemes and other public sector clients. The nature of investment consulting is evolving as we use our expertise to support the firm in a period of diversification and growth.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Investment Consultant to join our team.

Some of the key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing investment advice to clients on a wide range of issues.
  • Directing and advising a portfolio of clients
  • Delivering high quality, expert investment advice employing strategic and innovative solutions
  • Developing business - active involvement in client ‘prospecting’, relationship building and new business pitches
  • Activities designed to build and enhance the firm’s profile through networking, speaking at appropriate conferences and other forums
  • Building and maintaining strong links with other areas of the business to facilitate cross selling
  • Developing the consulting capabilities of the business unit by coaching and mentoring team members
  • Potentially contribute to internal initiatives and requirements e.g. quality assurance programmes, learning and development programmes
  • Adhere to the firm’s Information Security standards, policies and procedures.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
First class interpersonal and communication skills demonstrated in the ability to consult and influence successfully. Flexible, pro-active and innovative approach to client solutions. A team player with a motivational, hands-on approach. Flexibility to travel to clients and other Hymans Robertson offices. A solid understanding of the legislative framework for UK pension schemes. Strong commercial awareness of the pensions and employee benefits market. Likely to be FFA/FIA or CFA qualified –authorized to give investment advice via another qualification or experience. Performing a similar role in a consultancy environment, or similar experience gained in a fund management or other relevant investment sector. Leading on public sector clients would be advantageous. A solid understanding of the legislative framework for UK pension schemes including public sector. Strong commercial awareness of the pensions and employee benefits market. Related knowledge or experience of Company Accounts an advantage, but not essential. Articulate complex ideas and develop them into tangible offerings. Apply strong intellect to complex problem-solving in client organizations. Coach and develop other professionals. Consult with client contacts at senior/board level. Recognize and facilitate business development and intra/inter-practice referral opportunities as appropriate.
