To provide maritime security support to the Quality Assurance Team for all aspects of Security.
This support would encompass but not be limited to:
Running the administrative process associated with QA security function for third-party marine assets proposed for use.
Responsible for the understanding and implementation of all Maritime Security procedures, process and protocols intended to enhance the maritime security of marine assets.
Requesting and reviewing security voyage risk assessments of third-party marine assets, transiting high risk areas.
Request and review the evidence that any proposed Armed Private Maritime Security Contractors have the appropriate qualifications, training, experience, and profile to satisfy internal compliancy procedure. Review vessel feedback forms on completion of transits.
Developing a risk-based security program by conducting regular threat and risk-assessments to identify and implement mitigation solutions for marine assets.
Engaging with technical managers of third-party companies whose vessels have been nominated for.
Provide marine security assurance for time-chartered vessels and ensure delivery of security procedural compliance of vessels on time-chartered.
Conduct Private Maritime Security Contractor verification audits as lead auditor to confirm they are aligned with industry best practice. Produce audit reports and close out follow-up mitigation plans with the Private Security Contractors.
Briefing of vessels that are about to commence the transit of a high-risk area.
Disseminating relevant intelligence/security information to vessels, including the provision of intelligence update briefings to vessels prior to voyage departure.
Ensuring appropriate crisis management and security awareness training needs are identified to deliver the relevant specific programs and training the QA function.
Performing and facilitating security assessments and emergency response drills. Continually reviewing existing procedures and implementing additional risk controls, as identified.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Class 2 Chief Officer or Class 2, 2nd Engineer or Marine degree-based qualification or equivalent military qualification. Formal training in Accident and incident investigation. Lead Auditor qualification. ISPS Company security officer certification. Experience as Chief Officer or 2nd Engineer on board oil, gas or chemical tankers for 2years or Relevant military background together with extensive experience within a marine security related role. Leading risk assessments Conducting marine accident and incident investigations. Sound understanding of Classification, Flag State, IMO ISM/ISPS requirements and security ICS / BIMCO BMP. Through Knowledge, skills and experience demonstrate high degree of business integrity in the impact of the industry issues.
