Job Description

We now have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join us at our Glasgow office, and become part of an enthusiastic and high performing team whose aim is to provide the best payroll service to our clients.

Working primarily with our payroll clients to process their payrolls, you will also work with colleagues within the immediate payroll onboarding and processing teams at Armstrong Watson. Alongside this you will liaise with colleagues throughout the wider business in a number of service-lines to offer technical support on payroll legislation.

The overall purpose of this role is to process payrolls accurately on behalf of our clients in a timely and professional manner.

The main elements of this role will include but not be limited to:

  • Processing multiple payrolls with different pay frequencies accurately and on time.
  • Full responsibility for the end to end payroll processing for your own portfolio of client payrolls.
  • Ensuring client and employee records are kept up to date.
  • Dealing with a range of queries from clients, HMRC and internal colleagues in a polite and professional manner.
  • Keeping up to date with CPD and any changes to legislation.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
In order to fulfil the role, we expect you to be: Able to evidence working in a Payroll based role for a minimum of 2 years, or have worked within a Payroll Bureau for at least 1 year. Comfortable working within a fast paced working environment. A dedicated team player and willing to assist colleagues within the team where possible. A good problem solver and have excellent attention to detail. Able to prioritize workloads under strict deadlines and work well under pressure. Able to demonstrate initiative and contribute ways in which current processes can be made more effective for the team and clients. If you are successful (and you haven’t completed previously) you would be required to complete a payroll qualification following 12 months of service with the firm. You must complete either the Payroll Technician Certificate via our chosen online provider (which takes up to 12 months to complete) or the Foundation Degree in Payroll Management (which is a 3 year academic course).
