Job Description

The Construction Lead shall be located on a fulltime basis within the module yard, overseeing and reporting against schedule, project risks and acting as the focal point for the site based inspectors.

Prior to the Construction Lead being mobilized to the module yard, it is expected that they shall be based for a duration at the Grangemouth site. The initial mobilization shall be included to allow the Construction Lead time to obtain an understanding of the INEOS Standards, site expectations and to build a relationship with the NEP team. On completion of the module construction, the construction lead shall then mobilize to Grangemouth to assist with the module installation at the Grangemouth site.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Overseeing the fabrication, assembly and load out of the modules within the construction yard and act as the focal point for interfacing between the Lead Inspector and the Fabrication Lead.
  • Knowledge of the relevant International, National and INEOS standards, systems and procedures for construction activities to satisfy legislative requirements and meet business goals for cost, schedule HSE and quality.
  • Monitor and report progress against schedule, ensuring problems/issues are anticipated/ identified/ flagged at the earliest opportunity and that appropriate mitigations/solutions are put in place.
  • Conduct weekly progress meetings with the Construction Manager/Fabrication Lead.
  • Direct, control and motivate the execution of project work on behalf of INEOS, such that the allocated resources are in a position to deliver and perform to the required standards. Facilitate the SME Validation audits to ensure required contractor/yard personnel and module areas are available to ensure SME time is used efficiently.
  • Review contractor scopes of work, execution plans, method statements and risk assessments to ensure that work can be executed safely and efficiently within timescales.
  • Ensure that module installation at site is coordinated with other parties (including but not limited to INEOS operations/ permit personnel, the relevant Scaffold Insulation and Painting (SIP) contractor, other resources working on the project, other resources working in the vicinity of the project implementation locations, quality assurance, commissioning and inspection personnel.
  • The above shall require the post-holder to familiarize themselves with the contract/ scope/ drawings/ specifications to be implemented, to understand both what is to be executed and how.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to manage uncertainty within the project. Good decision-making skills within area of own expertise. Able to direct, control and motivate third Party contractors and other INEOS teams when applicable. Able to interpret plans and progress measures. Able to understand cost and billing information to ensure fair and accurate billing and contract claim management. Monitor and record site and control management of site instructions Interface effectively with project management functions and other asset engineering personnel. Ensure accurate as built information is provided and quality control compliance. Able to build strong working relationships. Understands commissioning processes and the relationship with construction and completion control. Degree qualified or equivalent in an engineering discipline. Significant relevant experience in manufacturing environment. Minimum of five years’ experience of working with construction contractors and contractor management. Previous construction management experience of working within international fabrication yards for petrochemical/Oil and Gas operators. Experience of modular construction would be advantageous. Detailed working knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. Qualified in construction and HSE management e.g. CITB 5 Day Construction Managers Course. Technical knowledge of INEOS standards and project codes. Competent in cost and schedule management.
