Job Description

On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the development of Renewables Sector projects from feasibility stage through detailed design, including construction support, with an initial focus on hydro, onshore wind and offshore wind in the UK and Ireland.
  • Provide team leadership of the Energy Team in Glasgow working closely with the Energy Team in London and Energy International.
  • Reporting to the Regional Director in terms of resourcing
  • Providing project leadership to multi-disciplinary teams in the UK and wider Group by:
    • Developing design methodologies and contributing to knowledge sharing
    • Development of conceptual design and producing engineering designs and details in accordance with project requirements
    • Visits to site as required by the project
    • Writing technical progress reports
    • Coordinating the production of high-quality calculations, written reports and drawings.
    • Mentoring and developing less experienced team members to allow them to achieve their full potential
  • Contributing to bids and the development of strong client relationships for the growth of Energy Sector projects in the UK.
  • Initial focus would be Customers located in Scotland and the North of England.
  • Reporting to Energy Senior Market Director in the UK in terms of bidding and market development.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

To succeed in this position, we believe that you'll be a team player with excellent English communications skills, including writing, proofing and editing with an eye for detail. Hold a degree in Engineering and ideally be a Chartered Engineer or nearing Chartered status. Have demonstrable experience within the hydro, onshore wind or offshore wind sectors acting as an Engineering Manager, Project Manager or Discipline Lead. Have experience of bidding and developing client relationships in the Renewables Sector. Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written). Be able to maintain an overview in a complex environment. Can integrate with people in combination with high level of knowledge and work across disciplines and to manage cultural differences. Thrive in a busy and challenging environment.
