Job Description

This is a varied and rewarding position that requires experience in road surfacing along with the requisite mobile plant competency cards such as rollers, pavers & JCB 2CX.
The key responsibilities are:

• Ability to communicate and take instruction from the Foreman and other Operatives
• Ability to understand and follow daily briefings / health and safety requirements
• Operate plant as instructed / trained to do
• Keep PPE and all equipment clean and safe
• Willingness to work varied shifts (including nightshift/weekends & away)

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

CSCS. NVQ Level 2 (desirable). CPCS Plant card (Roller/Tractair/Paver). Full UK driving license (desirable). You will report directly to the Foreman and will work as part of a surfacing squad on a variety of schemes such as highway maintenance, new build carriageways, airfields as well as private, industrial & commercial works. You will ideally be able to demonstrate previous experience working as a Skilled Surfacing Operative within a Civil engineering, Construction, or a similar environment. This is not essential as full training, guidance and supervision will be given for those with good communication skills and a real desire in developing both their operative and supervisory skills. You will also need to be flexible to work varying shifts which will include night’s weekends and working away. CSCS card and driving license would be preferred, but not essential as full Construction Industry training will be given to the right candidates.
