About This Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Administrator/Clinical Assistant to join our team on a permanent full time contract at our site at Sidcup. The successful role holder will be responsible for a wide range of administrative tasks and meeting and greeting patients. We seek a self-motivated individual who can quickly grasp the general administration duties in this busy department. The successful candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, together with a good standard of IT literacy. Typing skills are essential and previous experience in a healthcare environment is preferred. Excellent time management skills are essential in order to prioritise your workload to ensure a high standard of patient care at all times. You will also provide support to the clinical team, as a Clinical Assistant for which training will be provided.
Pre-employment screening including an enhanced DBS disclosure will be required for this role.
This role is 40 hours per week, Monday – Sunday
Clinical Assistant/Administrator
JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT
- Provide administrative and general support to clinical staff in the Statics environment
- Optimise patient care throughout the service delivery, particularly in maintaining confidentiality, dignity and privacy
- Provide the best possible customer care to all patients
- Undertake duties in accordance with current Health and Safety codes and policies
- Implement all Alliance Medical policies relevant to all clinical areas, in conjunction with the clinical staff

- Maintain all mandatory training commensurate with the role, and take responsibility for own professional development
- Be familiar with the principles of the NHS Constitution, and aim to provide the highest level of service to all stakeholders in compliance with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) framework
- Be familiar with and practice the requirements set out around Duty of Candour
- Be aware of and able to implement the principles of Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults and Children
- Maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and other health service business and meet the requirements of the Data Protection Act (1998) at all times
- Adhere to the AML policy for Moving and Handling, ensuring patient comfort at all times
- As a healthcare assistant you are responsible for ensuring that:
- your practice, so far as is reasonably practicable, protects patients, staff and other persons against risks of acquiring HCAIs
- where patients present with an infection or acquire an infection during treatment, that they are identified promptly and managed according to good clinical practice to treat the infection and reduce the risk of transmission
- Maintain high standards of clinical practice, Health and Safety and Information Governance in line with current legislative requirements and Company policies and procedures.
- Carry out clerical and administrative duties.
- Work as part of a team to deliver the best possible patient/customer care.
- Support the clinical team through preliminary review of the patient questionnaire and imaging referral as required and directed.
- Support the clinical team as required and directed.
- Support the clinical team position and patients on the scanner as required and directed.
- On completion of training, must be able to:
- Greet patients on arrival and provide outline explanation of the procedure,
- Enter relevant data into AML IT systems and complete patient examination information under the supervision of the Clinical Staff
- Check Patient Questionnaires and discuss any areas of concern with the Clinical Staff
- Prepare patients for their examination as directed
- Support the clinical staff in the delivery of the scan procedure
- Safely transfer patients to and from the scanning facility.
- Support the Clinical Staff on managing stock related to the diagnostic tests.
- IV cannulation may be a business requirement as identified by senior management.
Financial Responsibilities
- Maintain appropriate levels of clinical stock to ensure that service provision is facilitated in a cost effective way
Business Development
- Actively support, through your actions, the marketing and promotion of the company
Contracts
- Have an understanding of the Unit(s)/Mobile sites contractual agreements
- Assist the Unit Manager/Operational Manager in ensuring full compliance with all contractual clinical KPIs
Managing Change
Demonstrate a problem solving approach to issues arising at a local level, highlighting areas of concern to the appropriate personnel and actively participate in the subsequent change management process

- Assist with any coaching of others as directed by the Senior.

Compliance and Qualifications:
- Awareness of, and compliance with Alliance Medical Policies and Procedures, Radiation Regulations (IRMER, IRR and EPR) if modality requires this, CQC requirements and Health and Safety legislation
- Awareness of, and compliance with Data Protection and Patient confidentiality
- Undertake initial and refresher mandatory training to ensure compliance at all times
Experience:
- Must be IT literate
- Enhanced DBS clearance required
- Full driving license essential for mobiles
- Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Evidence of basic literacy and numeracy – GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
- Evidence of some knowledge of a science subject – GCSE Grade C or above, or equivalent.
- Basic IT literacy (Microsoft Office, Excel & Word)
- Excellent rapport and communication skills with patients, customers and colleagues to provide highest standards of patient care and service
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Excellent time management to optimize patient throughput and efficient service delivery
- Able to undertake allocated tasks appropriate to competence.
Desirable
- Experience and knowledge of the workings of an imaging department as a clinical assistant or equivalent.
- Experience of working in a healthcare environment.
- Operate across multiple sites if required
