Job Description

The positions objective is to partner with the Project Management team to deliver key Site Initiatives/ Projects on time and within scope. The primary function of the Construction Manager will be to take the lead with all construction-based activities, be involved in constructability reviews during the project engineering phase and site logistics prior to contractor mobilization to site and review proposed contractor construction methods. During construction phase the post holder will be responsible for walking the construction site every day, monitoring the contractor safety and construction performance as well as productivity, identifying risks and potential delays, testing contractors' decisions with them, ensuring the contractor adheres to the safety regulations (working alongside the safety rep), raising potential issues and challenges with the contractor and seeking solutions e.g. organizing workshops to find on-site solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining Governance & controls on behalf of PM for construction-based activities
  • Maintaining construction baseline & support of change control where appropriate
  • Principle vendor engagement on behalf / support of PM
  • Leading functional construction engagement - QS, Lawyer & Third Parties
  • Contractor Proposal support to approval
  • Set and monitor priorities based on dependencies & timelines
  • Defining construction priorities
  • Engagement with principle vendor to ensure timeline support & acceleration where possible
  • Ownership of construction reporting
  • RFI Process Support
  • Daily / weekly construction review and read out
  • Support formal monthly construction progress review with QS
  • Construction budget reporting to PM
  • Construction schedule reporting to PM
  • Construction Risk Mitigation support
  • Construction Business cut off support

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Construction or related subject. Significant relevant construction experience. Experience working within a manufacturing / engineering environment. Experience in leading and successfully completing small to medium sized construction projects. Ability to plan activities necessary to move from one major milestone to another. High ethical standards to support a professional business code of conduct. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently connect with and positively influence leadership and all levels of the organization. Great communicator, including solid written, oral and presentation-giving skills. Results driven with a focus on execution Team player. Team player. Must be a self-starter who can take general concepts and direction and produce desirable results. Also, must function effectively and efficiently in a global, multi-site organization. Ability to learn and develop current skills and behaviors to progress within the function and lead by example.
