Geotechnical Engineering is the branch of Civil Engineering which focusses on the engineering behavior of the soils and rocks beneath our feet - Geotechnical Engineering combines Civil Engineering with geology. Most construction projects require Geotechnical Engineering to be undertaken at some point, which means that Geotechnical Engineers play a vital role on a variety of different projects. Some examples of these projects include highways, railways, tunneling, bridge foundations and dealing with natural hazards (such as landslides, earthquakes etc.).
Join us and you’ll have the chance to work on world class projects as part of our Tunnelling and Ground Engineering (TGE) team in Glasgow. You will be supported in learning new skills using specialist software, learning design principles and standards and assisting in delivering - and adding value to - our projects. You will be involved in assisting in the development of geotechnical designs, drawings, calculations and opportunities to support construction and ground investigation site works.
You will work towards achieving a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering at the University of Strathclyde on a part time basis, through blended learning (generally 4 days per week of working and 1 day per week of study during term time).
